History of Luhta
Luhta Sportswear Company is a Finnish family business founded in 1907 in Lahti, where they still have their headquarters. Vihtori Luhtanen took care of sales and his wife designed the patterns and sewed the clothes. Between 1928 and the 1960s, the company suffered a recession and World War II, but managed to stay afloat. Luhta made its international breakthrough in the early 1970s.
In the 1980s, sales of suits, shirts and trousers were discontinued and Luhta focused on sporty leisure products. These were sold in Finland as leisurewear and in Europe as skiwear. This is what Luhta continues to do today, and with success.
